The Game Galry
Established in 1980, it was located downtown. This was actually my favorite arcade of them all. I cut my teeth on Berzerk and Robotron there. Through the years, they got some newer machines, and I can recall it was the only place in town that had a Mach iii cabinet. It was one of the first cabs to utilize video disc tech to create realistic backgrounds. Fun to play for sure. Sadly, the Game Gal-Ry was defunct after 1984.
Sluggo's Game Room
Sluggo's got started in 1981. It was in the basement of a large building downtown, known as the Gunny's Building. I never got to visit this downtown establishment. Sluggo's eventually opened up a new location at a recently created mall on the east side of town know as East Park Plaza. It was placed right next to the food court of the mall and it got a lot of action. Soon after, the downtown location was closed down, but the amount of clientele that the new location got made up for it.
Pinball Pete's
Pinball Pete's was the first location built a little further north in town, on a street known as Cotner Blvd. It started in 1982. I had a lot of older friends who went there and they said that it was a good arcade. I unfortunately never got to check it out. Pete's ended up moving way south of town.
