A bit about me:

I was born at the start of the 1970s, and for the most part got to enjoy what was considered the 'Golden Age' of arcades and video games.  I cut my teeth on Space Invaders, the very first video game I ever played, back in about 1978 - 79.  From then on I was addicted!  Soon after, more arcades started showing up in my hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska.  It was heaven (on the rare occasion that my parents could take me to one).

As I grew older, I spent even more time and money at the arcades.  Since I was smack in the middle of the country, the great video game crash of 1983 didn't hit us as hard, and I was able to enjoy the arcade scene until the early 1990s.

Inevitably, the arcades did die, and by that time I had moved on to other interests (computers, console gaming, cars, girls, college, etc.).  However, in the back of my mind was the thought of how much I missed playing those full-sized arcade cabinets.

Then, in about the year 2000, I was introduced to MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator).  Suddenly, the dream of potentially having a home game room started to become a reality!  This site is dedicated to all things arcade, 1970s, 80s, etc. and the slow build of my home arcade. I've learned a lot along the way, and I hope the pages with inspire others to pursue their own gaming dreams. Benny's Arcade Life is here for you to learn and enjoy!  Please feel free to get in touch with me and I'll be happy to respond.
